Spherical Roller Bearings- Single Row / Double Row / Split / Sealed

Spherical roller bearings consist of an outer ring with a spherical raceway and an inner ring with a double-raceway, one or two cages, and one group of spherical rollers. As the center of the spherical raceway of the outer ring coincides with the center of the bearing, it makes it have the self-aligning property. Spherical roller bearings can adjust angular error or flexion caused by the angle of the axle and bearing housing or axle bend. It has a high load-carrying capacity for radial load and axle load in two directions.

Types Of Spherical Roller Bearings

Single Row Spherical Roller Bearing

Single row spherical roller bearings can accommodate both radial and axial loads in both directions.
Single row spherical bearings use a single row roller, which provides a variety of benefits for higher load capacities operations.
Single row spherical roller bearings are more flexible to allow for misalignment and offer a longer service time.
Single row spherical roller bearings are available in 2 series:
- 22200 Series: Up to 150 mm bore diameter
- 22300 Series: Up to 100 mm bore diameter

Double Row Spherical Roller Bearing

Double-row Spherical roller bearings are appropriate for heavy radial loads.
Double-row spherical roller bearings can also handle axial loads in any direction. They can be used for medium speeds.
These bearings have races that are spherical within the outer ring of the two rows. Thus, double-row spherical roller bearings self-align within wide boundaries and are able to accept minor deviations.

Split Spherical Roller Bearing

Split spherical roller bearings have 2 rows of identical rollers, an outer ring with a common sphere raceway and two inner raceways that are inclined towards the bearing’s direction.
Split spherical roller bearings are able to handle heavy radial loads in combination with or without the axial load in both directions.
The split spherical roller bearing design is ideal for difficult situations where mounting, dismounting and maintenance can be a problem.

Sealed Spherical Roller Bearing

Sealed Spherical roller bearings are distinguished by the use of seals at the outer edge on both ends of the bearing. They shield particles from entering the bearing as well as act as a barrier against oil that is released from the bearing.
Sealed spherical roller bearings have been specifically designed to perform in extreme conditions and on equipment that requires longer maintenance intervals.
Sealed spherical roller bearings are suitable for use in areas like continuous casting plant, conveyor belts, steel industry, paper making industry, mines and quarry, textile, elevator plant or the food industry.

Features And Benefits Of Spherical Roller Bearings

Spherical roller bearings comprising barrel-shaped convex rollers, double-row inner ring and outer ring are classified into four spherical bearing types: R, RH, RHR and RHA, according to their internal structure.
With the bearing designed such that the circular arc center of the outer ring raceway matches with the bearing center, the bearing is self-aligning, insensitive to errors of alignment of the shaft relative to the housing, and to shaft bending.
Spherical roller bearings can accommodate radial load and axial load in both directions, which makes them especially suitable for applications in which heavy load or impact load is applied.
The tapered bore type can be easily mounted/dismounted by using an adapter or withdrawal sleeve.
